Drawing the Italian Renaissance is an exhibition showcasing the most extensive collection of drawings from this revolutionary artistic period ever displayed in the UK. Collaborating with the Royal Collection Trust, we developed a creative campaign designed to raise awareness of both the gallery and the exhibition while engaging new and existing audiences.
Our approach was rooted in a deep respect for the historical context of the Renaissance while ensuring contemporary appeal. Working closely with the curatorial team, we selected key hero images for the campaign that showcased the diversity and richness of the collection. These images were paired with a bold, bright orange—a colour inspired by the red chalk used by the Italian masters. This distinctive hue not only harmonised with the artwork but also ensured high visibility for outdoor campaigns during the winter season.
The typographic design drew from the late 15th-century humanist typefaces that flourished in Italy following the invention of the printing press. Drawing inspiration from classics like the Subiaco Type and Jenson, we developed a bespoke logotype that married historical authenticity with contemporary elegance.
In addition to onsite and out-of-home campaigns, we developed a suite of digital assets tailored to multiple media platforms. This included banners and trailers in different formats and lengths, ensuring the campaign reached diverse audiences across all touchpoints.
