Craft & Graft takes a look behind the scenes of the Crick Institute, Britain’s biggest laboratory facilities. This exhibition with a strong utilitarian and modular design turns the laboratories inside out to give the public a glimpse at the technicians’ work.
Graphics and colours were informed by our observations of the laboratory facilities which in combination with photography participate in creating immersive environments. One to one images are printed on perforated pegboard to provide backdrops for the diorama boxes while banners dropping from the ceiling help to create privacy from the street. Bold floor graphics are used both as a signage system and as a way to link all the different stories together.
