Creative Campaign Exhibition graphics

Turner and Constable: Rivals and Originals is a landmark exhibition at Tate Britain. Marking 250 years since the artists’ births, it explores how their fierce rivalry pushed each of them towards greatness and reshaped the course of British landscape painting.

We created the full creative campaign and exhibition graphics. The campaign leans directly into their legendary competition: a single red line splits the two artists, inspired by the moment Turner added a tiny red buoy to Helvoetsluys during the Royal Academy’s Varnishing Day; an audacious gesture intended to outshine the neighbouring Constable painting.

Constable reportedly exclaimed, “Turner has been here and fired a gun!” a line so dramatic it warranted its own graphic interpretation. The red line became a defining visual device throughout the campaign, setting up the rivalry in a way that speaks both to art-historical enthusiasts and a contemporary audience.

Working closely with the Tate team, we delivered all campaign assets, from print to digital. This included an ambitious Out-of-Home rollout across more than 500 sites in London, a series of animated trailers developed with Tomfoolery Studio, as well as a bespoke animation for the escalator screen network across the Underground.

The response has been exceptional, with strong ticket sales even before opening, a testament to the collective effort of everyone involved.
